On "good authority", there is this advice about why people buy anything:

There are four motivations to make you buy -

1. The product saves you time
2. The product saves you money
3. The product improves your sex life
4. The product gets your hair back.

While this was stated as a joke, it's interesting to see how close this is to the truth...
