Writing Journal – A 90-day Program To Improve Your Writing Habits

Writing Journal - A 90-day challenge to improve your writingThere Is a Simple Writing Journal Habit You Can Do Daily to Improve Your Writing

There are two things every writer must master.

There are two things every writer must do every day.

These two things are obvious.

But until they’ve been made into a pure and relentless habit, you will continue to struggle as an author.

Every – Single – Day:

  • You must read.
  • And you must write.

‎If you want to be a writer, you must do two things above all others: read a lot and write a lot…reading is the creative center of a writer’s life…you cannot hope to sweep someone else away by the force of your writing until it has been done to you.
– Stephen King

Read, read, read. Read everything – trash, classics, good and bad, and see how they do it. Just like a carpenter who works as an apprentice and studies the master. Read! You’ll absorb it. Then write. If it’s good, you’ll find out. If it’s not, throw it out of the window.
– William Faulkner

You can’t be a writer if you’re not a reader. It’s the great writers who teach us how to write. The third thing is to write. Just write a little bit every day. Even if it’s for only half an hour — write, write, write.
– Madeleine L’Engle

Whenever I’m asked what advice I have for young writers, I always say that the first thing is to read, and to read a lot. The second thing is to write. And the third thing, which I think is absolutely vital, is to tell stories and listen closely to the stories you’re being told.
– John Green

The only reason this book exists:

To improve your writing by practicing it every day for 90 days, developing the habit of reading, and the habit writing.

How this book is built:

On the left side, you’ll find an inspirational quote by a famous author. On the right, you’ll have a blank, ruled page to write on.

  1. Fill out the starting date on the title page of this book..
  2. Get a blank calendar with at least 90 days on it. Hang it where you have to see it every day.
  3. Read the first quote,
  4. Write on the opposite side – whatever you want. But write something.
  5. Mark off your calendar for that day.
  6. Then go about the rest of your day.
  7. The next day, preferably the first thing (even before breakfast – you can actually do this in bed, if you want) turn to the next quote. Read it. Write on the opposite page, Mark off your calendar day.
  8. Get up, have your breakfast, go about your day.
  9. When you fill it up, fill out the completed date, then start another.

You’ll soon find you’ve developed the habit of reading and writing every day. And those are the two habits you need as a writer.

Good luck – and have fun!
